ITALY Readers's Tips - Calm down the strike is announced to take place for 24 hours on the 15th and you are not leaving until the 23rd and are really mostly concerned about the 2nd of October, almost three weeks later what is the problem

I'd like to be prepared for possibilities so as to reduce unpleasant surprises; INFORMATION is what helps me do this. Knowing what to expect andamp; preparing for alternatives wil allow me to ENJOY my trip, so if someone else out there understands my position andamp; can clue me in on what to expect andamp; how to work around things like transport strikes (EGIf really desperate, are there water taxis near Fondamenta Nove andamp; can one share the expense of one from there to the airport with other desperate if nonmillionaire travellers , I'd really appreciate it. Thanks I'll be there on the 17th in the morning.If they haven't resolved anything, do you have a suggestion I'll need to get from the airport to the Rio Alto Bridge.

Hi Jenkaiser: glad to kow others share my concerns.I have been assured by someone on another message board that the strikes usually last only 24 hours and are unlikely to happen again so soon, so you probably will not be affected (How long will you be in Venice To be sure, however, I suggest you get into Venice from Marco Polo Airport as I plan to, by Alilaguna Water bus: go to www.ilaguna., andamp; check the route lines andamp; timetables.I took a quick lookI think the Alilaguna Red line to San Marco is your best bet andamp; walk from there, but check for yourself They run about once an hour (but not late at night and cost about 10Euro, I think.f course, if your flight times, like my departure flight time, preclude the Alilaguna, then you'll be asking the same thing I did in my original post.ood luck to you
