I think that you will find the best shopping for gold in Florence especially the Ponte Vecchio.
About 1:30 hr from Lucca by train.
There are some beautiful gardens in the Lucchese hills and some wineries.You might want to visit these places.If you aren't already planning a stay in Florence, I recommend going there, too.
