ITALY Readers's Tips -
The Colonna Palace Hotel on the Piazza de Montecitorio might work well for you: http://www.owital.m/lazio/rome/colonnapalace/hotel.ml.It has 110 rooms and conference rooms. It's a handsome building, great location, and the staff are lovely.
Another hotel I would consider is the Hotel San Francesco in Trastevere.t, too, is in an historic building, a former convent, and has conference rooms.
I will look forward to another excellent report of your travels when you return
Hi Gard, Lucky You:.
I don't know if you remember me but I emailed you last year after you put your Rome tripreport on your website.
I told you about that ancient circular brick structure that sticksout in the street just around the corner of the Hotel Nord.
It is a restaurant that can seat at least 100 upstairs and 40 downstairs.
I went there last April and wrote a post about it on another messageboard.
It would be a pretty cool place that I'm sure your coworkers would remember (a 4thC Pavilion in the 'Baths of Diocletian' complex and the food is good:.
Below are my 2 posts about it, one before going and one after my return.
Also with a large group you might consider hiring a small bus andamp; driver to and from the airport.
It will probably be cheaper than taxis or private cars/drivers for a large group.
I've never used any of these companies but I have mentioned it to other posters with large groups over the years.nd I remember two large groups did use 2 of the companies but I don't know which ones.
If interested go to http://www.s.
In the 'pulldown' under 'cerca il tuo autobus' bringup 'Lazio' and hit Cerca (Search.
Scroll down to 'Roma', it lists ~50 bus company websites.
Some might have an English option but even if not I would email any that looked good for a quote.'m certain that someone in the office reads andamp; writes English seeing that it's a tourist/business bus service.
Good Luck.Regards, Walter

There is a restaurant near Termini that is actually in an intact Roman ruin.
I didn't eat there but I checked out the prices.hich were reasonable, alittle higher than Terminiarea restaurants but cheaper than a centrally located restaurant.
It is on Via Viminale near the corner or crossstreet Via G.mendola (the present day photo below is taken from that corner and very hard to miss.
[I snipped this from a past post]
http://classics.rman.u/~rprior/imgs/RCU5/5097.g (the train station would be off to the left.
See the semicircular Exedra; Present day bldgs still follow this line in the Piazza d.epubblica.
Now notice the 2 small circular bldgs to the left and right of the Exedra in the far 2 corners of the Bath complex.
These are round pavilions which can be seen today.
The best one meaning more original is on Via Viminale and houses a restaurant

The other one has been built over and is a church in the Piazza
