ITALY Readers's Tips -
You shouldn't run into any problems being a single woman in Venice.I went to dinner alone quite often while I was living in Italy the locals are very kind, especially at the restaurants not frequented by tourists.
Have a wonderful time.I wish I was going to Venice soon.;
Finding a restaurant in a notsotouristy location won't be too hard, and people at your hotel will certainly help, or convention staff who live locally just ask.ou can sometimes simply turn a corner and find yourself away from the beaten path, especially at the rather late dinner hour that is customary there, because by then the gazillion daytrippers have left and Venice changes character.
Sitting outside on the Piazza at night might be a different story it could be a bit tricky to remain left alone if you're just sitting there by yourself.aybe you'll find agreeable company at the convention, glad to have someone to spend time with for exactly those same reasons
Either way, have a great time
Don't get depressed by people who tell you Venice is only for lovers.It's a historic and artistic city that has plenty to offer to everyone.
I've dined alone in Venice without any problems.Venetians are very used to tourists and are not shocked by anything.If you act like a normal polite person, you will be very welcome and comfortable in a restaurant on your own.
As for sitting in the piazza, it's probably ok.While I'm sure you're a very attractive woman of your age, women over 40 do not attract the parade of drooling desperate males that a 20 year old blonde with a skimpy outfit sitting by herself in the piazza would.I can't promise that no one at all will approach you, but it won't be anything out of control.
We were thrilled with the agriturismo we visited near Syracusa and would like to recommend others to a friend who will be going to Sicily.I'd be grateful for suggestions.We liked the place we stayed at, both because the rooms were large and comfortable, the hosts warm, there were animals, olive trees and good meals.If you know of a place that provides bikes, that would be terrific.
