In Venice I would suggest a water taxi.But before you make plans contact your hotel and get very specific directions/info do they have a private pier, will they send a bellman to the pier to met you, do you need to stop at a public stop and if so which one and exactly how far is the walk to your hotel Make sure you have a detailed map in your hand as the back streets of Venice are not unsafe but can be very confusing esp after dark.
