ITALY Readers's Tips - i'm in a similar situation. like fine dining but i never have enough room in my suitcase for coats, ties, dress shoes, tennis shoes for my daytrips and all the walking, etc.o usually when i travel i just eat at restaurants that don't require dressups.ut i do feel like i'm missing out sometimes.

You are fine wearing dockers without a jacket and tie at most restaurants.here are some upscale restaurants you will not be able to dine at without proper dress but there are plenty of places to eat it with excellent food you will be welcome at.ou're on vacation save the jacket and tie for the office It does depend on what you mean by nice restaurants.If you mean the kind of place you would normally only go to for a 30th wedding anniversery or 50th birthday or to celebrate a college graduation and might have a Michelin star or two, then you'd need jacket and tie. Otherwise, you don't need them in most "nice" restaurants.
