ITALY Readers's Tips - Given your location, I'd spend an afternoon exploring Fiesole taking in the view of Florence below. Then you could take local road S2 for a trip to San Gimignano. And not far outside Siena to the west, there's an interesting walled town, Monteriggioni, also on S2.Not alot going on inside the walls but such an unusual setting, it's worth the walk up the hill. Really, the best thing about being in Tuscany with a car is just pulling out a map and exploring.Go north one day, south the next. You never know what vista is over the next hill, what charming village is around the next corner.

Use the Tusacany forum on Tripadvisor.m.I have planned a 16 day visit using a dozen books and 2 web sites. If you have a car and you want to visit Tuscany, use Cheap Hotel Guide's Driving Tours or Authentic Tuscany by Touring Club of Italy. If you have never been to Florence, take the train and spend an entire day there as long as possible.I would skip Fiesole. It is a nice day trip if you can't get out into the countryside. But since you will be spending time in Chianti/Tuscany, don't bother.SG is better visited late in the day, after the tourists have gone.Use some sources and choose places that appeal to you.Be warned, that though driving is fairly even, it does take time on these secondary roads. There are some good N/S highways that can take save you time at night, in the rain, or when you are just ready to take it easy. Good luck in your choices. It is hard to go wrong. Has anyone had any experience with Travelex for travel insurance Is this a smart thing to do They also offer currency exchange via mail so that you can have some Euros upon arrival(example: 1000 would be 720 euros. Is this a good idea

Don't know about the insurance aspect, but 720 Euros should not cost you a Big One, not even close, so, no, this part of it is not a good idea.aybe 930 or so dollars but why take that much in cash in the first place Makes no sense. You can get Euros at the best available rate by simply sticking your ATM card into a machine on arrival; they are everywhere.ust make sure it is a card linked at home to a checking account, with a 4digit PIN, and alert the issuing bank twice before you leave of your travel plans so that the transaction won't be refused because of and34;unusual account activityand34;. If you want to buy Euros at the airport of departure, maybe 50 or so, you will pay extra for that, but only maybe an extra five to ten bucks, so if you feel that is worth it for your comfort, you can always do that.
