ITALY Readers's Tips - We have been in tuscany for 10 days and had no trouble with pick pokets but you must be sensible about it for instance like just carrying a few euros in your front pants pocket and carry no wallet but use a money belt for credit cards,atm etc.nd passport also.omen if you carry a purse the same goes.just a few euros to get by and either a money belt or let hubby carry euros and cards in his pouch and you will have no problems.uon viaggio

We found that a money belt AND a money neck pouch per person work best.(money belt is pouch under clothes around waist..hummmm, come to think of it, I always have a "pouch" around my waist, even at home LOL. Anyway, I digress One of us keeps our original docs (passports, tickets, confirmation letters, etc.one each of credit(2 banks/debit cards(2 accounts, 1/2 of our cash (usually not more than E200; can get extra from ATM, health cards, itinerary info, medical info, emergency contact data, hotel key, etc.n a money belt andamp; the other person keeps copies of all of the above, plus 1/2 of our money, plus 1 each of the credit/debit cards.(We also make copies of the credit/debit cards.We have found that if needed, one can access the items in the money belt without seeming to "disrobe" in public.It is just not as convenient as the neck money pouch andamp; usually your tummy shows a little OH NO (now that can really be an ugly American We fix the neck pouches, which are hung around the neck, but under a blouse/shirt/sweater, so it hangs just at the length we want, so we can get into it easily.We hang it according to what we wear each day.If we wear a blouse/shirt with buttons, we hang it so we can unbutton the button just above the waist, pull out the pouch, get what we want, andamp; secure it again.If we wear a sweater, we hang it below the waist, tuck it in our pants, andamp; when we want, reach under our sweater, pull out the pouch, andamp; get what we want.(This worked so well, I stopped carrying a purse In these pouches, we carry enough money for the day's activities (1/2 per person, any paperwork needed for the day such as bus/train/museum tickets, etc.(If we think needed, we can include credit/debit cards.This pouch can also be draped around the neck with an arm thru the strap results in carrying it on one's side, but under clothing.I found this too difficult to access; therefore only good for securing items that are not needed during that day. So now, I do not carry a purse, which nicely eliminates a possible problem like that We also take a very small backpack, but don't use it every day.In that we can carry purell wipes, tour book, map, camera (which I usually just hang around my neck, outside my clothes, whatever small items we "think" we absolutely must have But we keep it very limited; don't really need all we think we do We don't carry water because that can be purchased from any little store for a good price.Besides, too much water just means more time wasted trying to find a "
