ITALY Readers's Tips - Ravenna might indeed be a better option, and perhaps cinque terre as well, including the coast all the way round from there to the french border. Whilst not tough, some of the cinque terre walks would be tricky in wet weather. Another option would be going way down south to Lecce, which would have a nice climate at this time of year and is pretty close to the coast.t's not a regular tourist destination, so it would be worth learning a few words in Italian if you don't know much already. regards Ian

We got home from Italy on October 8th.I was surprised when I learned that the owners of almost all bed and breakfast consider November as closed.Even some of the hotels in Vada told me that. The end of September and the first week in October were great though. OP sez I really wanted to be on the coastand32; Not sure how to reconcile that with OP's timing why coast in november Rough winds, quite likely some rain and chills, definitely no beach activity, beach resorts closed, boat schedules curtailed or shut down what attracts you to the coast at that time of year Ravenna (click, while a great destination because of the byzantine mosaics, is not on the coast per se and, although the port and some outlying beaches are not far, does not feel like a coast town or let alone a beach town. Maybe give us a hint as to what your ideas are, and we can come up with something Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your responses. This is my first trip to Italy so I wanted to see as much as I could.I love the beach/coast in any weather and no matter where I travel if there is large bodies of water near that is what I am attracted to.Being able to see all the beautiful Amalfi coastline would be ideal.Granted if the weather is going to be absolutely horrible, it would seem to be a waste of money and I should probably plan on returning during a different time of year. I know there are thousands of sites to see in Italy but I really wanted to do something relaxing. Anyone aware of what to expect weather wise Would taking a hydrofoil from Naples to Amalfi be crazy due to weather
