ITALY Readers's Tips - We have taken 2 bus tours of Italy in the off season. The 1st was with Insights andamp; the 2nd was with Trafalgar.(Trafalgar subsequently bought Insights sometime after our trip.If you are looking for this type of tour be sure to read the important words: "will see or view" means from the outside; "will tour" means entry is included. All motor coach tours will offer "excursions" or words similar that mean they will take you for an additional fee.You can take as many as you like or none at all. It has been our experience that this type of tour by any touring company will take you to the main highlights of the cities.Sometimes the only difference is which hotel you will stay at but not always. On the tours we took we were sometimes staying at the same hotels as more expensive tour companies. It has been our experience that it is not usually necessary to take one of these bus tours from a more expensive tour company. In other words, it is not always a case of "you get what you pay for. Another thing to consider is how many nights you will be staying in each city.A one night stay in multiple cities means that you will be living out of you suitcase andamp; have very little time in the actual hotel at night to be ready for an early morning departure. We were quite satisfied with what we received on both of these tours for the cost.It can be a very cost effective (and very tiring way to see as much as possible without having to lug your own luggage andamp; make all your own arrangements.(That's why we took 2 tours to the same basic cities. The differences between the 2 tours that we took was that Insights was a little more expensive up front but it included more of what were optionals for Trafalgar.(Such as a tour of the Vatican Museums, Pisa, andamp; seeing the original statue of David in Florence. Also, the location of some of the hotels might be considered better but we usually had such little time on our own in the cities that it didn't make that much of a difference. Both of these tours went to Sorrento with a trip to Capri as well as the 3 cities that you listed. I hope this info helps with your decision.Good luck with your decision.
