ITALY Readers's Tips - I would be sure to have arrangements made.Not sure where you are headed but we just stayed at a great hotel in Radda in Chianti called Hotel San Niccolo.Radda is about 30 minutes from Siena and not nearly as touristy as some other areas of the wine country there.We got a really nice room for only 90 Euros/night and it was by far the best breakfast we had of all the different hotels we stayed too.I got this rate by emailing with the hotel directly not booking online so you may try that depending on what the rates are posted online.Here's the website.good luck w/ your trip/ www.telsanniccolo.m

Thanks for the help.I was able to get a room there for a night, though not the one I originally wanted. My wife andamp; I scored some fairly inexpensive tickets to the Teatro La Fenice for a performance next week. Of course this means we'll have to pack a little bit more than the typical comfortable sightseeing wear. Can anyone with experience speak into what both the men andamp; women are typically wearing to a performance like this

Congratulations I've attended the opera in several locations, including two opera houses in Florence and the substitute operahouse tent in Venice while La Fenice was being rebuilt.The clothing seems to run the gamut, from casual to somewhat formal.I've generally worn black slacks, a blouse or sweater, pearls, sometimes a shawl/scarf, and black flats.My husband has, on occasion, worn a sport jacket with a dress shirt but he hasn't worn a suit and tie.rom my observations, you wouldn't feel out of place if you didn't wear a sport jacket. I haven't been to La Fenice, but I'm sure other readers have and can give you more specific information about what they've observed there.
