ITALY Readers's Tips - You don't say how long you will be in Italy.e are going for the last 2 weeks in Sept.e start in Venice (3days, Dolomites (3 days, Lake Como (2 days, Parma (1 day, Cinque Terre (4 days.t will be our second time in Cinque Terre.f you have limited time go the Cinque Terre.ust beautiful and well worth going, especially in Sept.ill still be warm, romatic and lovely.

I hear Lake Garda is lovely, but all the lakes are.ake Como is kinda crowded. loved the Dolomites, but nothing beats the Cinque Terra because of the ocean.the hikes andamp; views are just great. would think Milan would be your best bet for airport.you can get a train to anywhere you want to go. Aloha, Linda With regard to ACTV VAPORETTI/LAND BUSES andamp; STRIKES: I just went on the Actv (English site this week and saw the following: "11/09/2006: STRIKE OF BUS AND WATERBUSES Friday 15, September 24 hours" It is still there today.o further information provided Since I am leaving for Venice next week Saturday 9/23/06 [I can take Alilaguna into the city], then leaving Venice Monday 10/2/06 [Alilaguna impossible on departure,as it does Not start running early enough in the morning to get me to Marco Polo airport on time, so I Must take take vaporetti to P.oma andamp; bus from there (much much too far from apartment to walk with luggage], I am concerned (E100 water taxi too pricey for me andamp; may not be available in a strike when demand will go up Does anyone know anything re Actv STRIKES: 1Are they always announced in advance 2If yes, how far in advance 3Is the "24 hours" listed the minimum, the maximum, or the usual duration of the strike 4How frequently do they occur 5If one should happen while I am already in Venice, does anyone know if any agent at any Actv ticket booth can inform me of an impending strike at least 24 hours in advance so I can try to make other arrangements re the airport If not an Actv ticket booth agent Who Anyone Thanks in advance for any accurate, knowledgeable answers anyone can offer SOON

Calm down the strike is announced to take place for 24 hours on the 15th and you are not leaving until the 23rd and are really mostly concerned about the 2nd of October, almost three weeks later what is the problem
