ITALY Readers's Tips - Airfares are typically lower for travel in September and then they usually are lower for travel beginning Nov., except over the Christmas holidays. For a trip in November, I would look for good fares now.I just used http://www.yak.m for a sample trip in November, departing Tues.ov. and returning Wed.ov.2.I found a fare of 629, including all taxes, from Boston to Florence. If your dates are not flexible, I would try to book right away. Also, if I were flying, I would be very pleased with a fare of 629 that includes all taxes for that route at that time. Only a few years ago, the taxes on transatlantic flights usually were 120 or less. Now, they usually exceed 200, on top of the base fare. There may be other bargains out there; I'm sure other Cheap Hotel Guide readers will have suggestions.

You don't say where from, or where to that can make a huge difference. For example, if you have easy access to NYC, try www.roflyusa.m and see if their sometimes very advantageous flights happen on the days you want to travel they fly directly into airports where other airlines require a twohopper or threehopper. Use the Buzz feature on kayak, and www.recompare.m. Then depending where your destination actually is you can try the way of budget airlines, with www.yscanner.t and www.ichbudget.m, where you juggle the cheapest transatlantic flights you can find (to pretty much anywhere in Europe with the available budget flights to Italy from those arrival airports.actor in the cost of transfers etc.nd see if you come out ahead. Example: You want to go to Florence.ou find 900 to Rome (plus train to Florence and back vs 600 to Frankfurt, add two budget flights at 50ea FrankfurtPisa/PisaFrankfurt, plus some transfer cost, and see by how much you are still ahead.t happens. What great advice Thank you I live in Southern NJ, so I can fly out of Philadelphia, NYC, or Newark. will be flying into Florence which I was told is a about 45 minute drive to our Bandamp;B in Tuscany.he exact place is Val d’Orcia, Tuscany, Contignano.Im not sure what that means. I would have to travel from November 612. Once again.THANK YOU

I've found that winter fare sales to Europe generally begin in September, but fares have been strange this year.Fares to Italy in November that are selling now are too high in my opinion.I'm going then, and I plan to wait until September to buy.I don't want anything much over 400 (including tax from New York, and I'm sure I'll get it one way or another. If you're fussy about what flight you get, or if you refuse to change planes, then you should buy now while availability is there. If you're willing to compromise convenience to get a lower fare, wait a bit. It's rare that all flights to any particular city in Europe will be completely sold out during winter, so there's not much chance of ending up with nothing. As for Eurofly, many of their flights are seasonal and don't operate after midNovember.
