If your dates are not flexible, I would try to book right away.Also, if I were flying, I would be very pleased with a fare of 629 that includes all taxes for that route at that time. Only a few years ago, the taxes on transatlantic flights usually were 120 or less.Now, they usually exceed 200, on top of the base fare. There may be other bargains out there; I'm sure other Cheap Hotel Guide readers will have suggestions.

I've found that winter fare sales to Europe generally begin in September, but fares have been strange this year.Fares to Italy in November that are selling now are too high in my opinion.I'm going then, and I plan to wait until September to buy.I don't want anything much over 400 (including tax from New York, and I'm sure I'll get it one way or another. If you're fussy about what flight you get, or if you refuse to change planes, then you should buy now while availability is there.If you're willing to compromise convenience to get a lower fare, wait a bit.It's rare that all flights to any particular city in Europe will be completely sold out during winter, so there's not much chance of ending up with nothing.
