I am in the midst of deciding upon two holiday alternatives and i need help.My wife and I are planning to go to next march or april to either a Paris and northern Italy holiday.probably Paris for four days and then night train to Venice.two weeks staying somewhere relativley rural between Florence and Venice in an apartment. few days in Rome and then home. or option 2 which would be Rome for a few days, somwhere like Sorrento for a few days, and then an apartment in either Sardinia or Sicily. We are both interested in history, culture (meaning I guess the feel of a place rather than something haute, food and enjoy the experience of a dfferent language. I am the type of traveler who will read a dozen books about a place before I go. think I know what to expect in both places, but I am stymied. would love to hear some random thoughts or experiences that may help me make up my mind. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

Sicily in April gets a head start on flora but the hordes have not arrived yet.f you read up on it, you will find that there are so many very well preserved Greek ruins to see that you almost don't have to go to Greece (I know, I know, I didn't mean it, hold the fire..nd a side trip to one of the volcanic islands and another to Malta (the exotic melting pot of the Med.then swing by Sorrento and Pompeii and all that for another piece of history and for great spring weather (fingers crossed that should do it Just my 2¢ (actually, 2,000 lire, I missed the conversion deadline..
