ITALY Readers's Tips - I pcked a car up at Europcar(Auto Europe on Via Borgognissanti in Florence.ropped it off at Via Del Galoppatoio which is a parking garage just insdide the Villa Borghese in Rome. Both rental places are near the outskirts of the cities , so you don't fight too much traffic.

Not sure if this will apply to you.e are renting a car in Venice and travelling for a week in Tuscany before spending the last 6 days in Rome.ur Italian friend suggested we take the high speed train from Florence to Rome instead of driving to Rome.e are dropping our car near the train station in Florence and the train station is right downtown in Rome.e thought the trip would be far more relaxing if we did not have to navigate around Rome.We are excited to try the high speed train so that is a bonus. I am confused.I noticed on a previous post the the address in Florence for Auto Europe was 5355 Via Borgognissanti but when I looked up the site on line I found it listed as 128 Borgo Ognissanti. What is it and how is the easiest way to find it to turn in our car

AutoEurope uses at least two agencies, Avis and Europecar, both of which are on Borgo Ognissanti (also known as Via Borgognissanti in Florence. That is the reason for the two addresses. The easiest way to find it depends on what direction you're coming from when you return the car.If coming from south of Florence, the easiest way I've found is to drive through the Porta Romana. You may be stopped because most cars are not allowed in the center but just tell them you are returning a rental car.

  • Drive through the Porta Romana (large entrance "gate" in the stone wall still surrounding that section of Florence into the piazza.li>Drive straight ahead onto Via Porta Romana.
  • Stay on Via Porta Romana about 1/3 of a mile, until you must bear left onto Via Maggio (just before the Pitti Palace.
  • Stay on Via Maggio until you come to the Ponte S.rinita (Santa Trinita bridge and cross the river on the Ponte S.rinita.
  • As soon as you cross the river, turn left onto Lungarno Corsini (which borders the river.
  • After a longish block, turn right into Piazza Goldoni (there's a statue of Goldoni mounted on a horse in the center of this busy little piazza and then take an immediate left onto Borgo Ognissanti. You'll soon pass the Ognissanti Church (on your right and a piazza with two elegant hotels on your left.Within a couple of blocks, you'll come to the first Avis or Europecar location on the left. I recommend a good street map, which you can get at the Florence city bus website, http://www.af.t.hese maps show which streets are oneway.Select quadrant 1, which shows the city center. You will want quadrant 7, too, which shows the approach from the south to Porta Romana. Traffic is relatively slow on Borgo Ognissanti, because it is a narrow city street lined with all sorts of small businesses, including restaurants and bakeries.ou should be able to spot the sign. The staff at AutoEurope are very hel
