ITALY Readers's Tips -
We're planning on attending next July too but I've only just begun
to research the event and how to get the most out of it.What did
you find out from tour companies about it We would like to see if
we can take part in the events of the day(s but also want to do it
effeciently.Any thing you find out that might be helpful to both of
us would be appreciated Maybe we'll see you there
Hi Bear with me as this is my first post.
My wife and I are visiting Europe/Italy for the 1st time from 9/30 to 10/7.I have done a lot of investigation, and have my 1st Class Trenitalia Passes, however I am unclear if I NEED to make reservations.ur Major legs are:
Milan to Florence
Florence to Rome
Rome to Pompei
Salerno/Naples to Orvieto
My readings have led me to these assumptions:
I DO NOT need to make reservations
I realize just having a pass doesn't guarantee us a seat
If we don't get a seat in first class, we can always sit in 2nd Class.
I look forward to hearing the expertise/experience of the group.
Thank you,
Lee
By the way, to everyone looking for a hotel room, try www.nere.m.This is such a cool website, and I booked 6 of 7 nights on it.It covers all of Europe
For the most part, you shouldn't need reservations for those legs.If you want to take a Eurostar train, you will need a seat reservation, even with the pass. but you can do that easily the day of departure.
Thank you SaraE.I had also emailed RailEurope, and received this response:
"I can tell you that you will need a reservation to board the trains for the first 3 trips you plan to take. The others you may need
reservations for.
I am not excited about having to spend another 150 on these 3 legs.
Does anyone have any experience on the 1st 3 legs mentioned Would I be commiting Travel Suicide by waiting till we arrive at the train Station to clarify if we DO need them I am assuming, being September/October, we should be able to find a seat, or at the least, buy a reservation that day.
Would love some confirmation from you veterans out there.
Thank you very much.
Lee
