ITALY Readers's Tips - Hi M, The reason AMEX won't cover you in Italy is that CDW is required by law. It's also the reason that rental rates are high. Otherwise, as long as you stay out of large cities, it should be the same as driving in the rest of Europe.

My family and I are planning to take a trip to Europe.We will be arriving in Nice and plan to do the Cote d'Azur followed by Cinque Terre, Rome, Corsica, Florence, Lake Como, Amalfie, Venice and last destination Paris (not exactly in that order, still have to work out the perfect layout.owever I need help on the hotels or hostels.Does anyone know of a clean, affordable and well situated place in any of the places I mentioned.Please Help.
