ITALY Readers's Tips - Some other ideas os interests would be good, however some initial thoughts. The traditionally great wines are inland (Brunello and Barolo.nless a pool is an acceptable alternative, then these can be counted out. Sicily sounds like it might have good prospects, with good beaches, but also a recently resurgent wine industry.ry Donnafugata as a good start on the wines.lso look out for the local Malvasia (Hauner are good Puglia should be good (great at value, though few really prestige wines to date, though the beaches we saw didn't inspire. Tuscany is fantastic for wines and perhaps the Tuscan coast would allow you to taste the wines of Bolgheri on the Etruscan coast or Grosseto and Maremma to the South.oth are very impressive (does Sassicaia appeal that's down there, however I've no idea whether there are good beaches on the nearby coast. However, and this might influence your choice, there is great Italian wine pretty much everywhere.very town will usually have a wine bar, larger ones may have many.he standard of wine you can get by the glass is impressive and by the bottle even more so.he food served in these places has for us (so far been exceptionally tasty (generally on the light size on portions, but with tremendous flavour. For instance Amalfi has a great wine bar in an old monastery up above the main street.here are about 3 good wine shops there and others in Ravello, Minori, etc.here's also a decent winery in Furore (Marisa Cuomo along with more strightforward local wines.asting local wine with local food, you can often see how they've evolved together. I hope this helps Italian wine is a vast field and it's great chipping away at the edges of it regards Ian

We are going to Italy for our honeymoon too and wine is definitely one of our priorities. We plan to spend at least one day with a tour guide in Tuscany visiting wineries, etc. How long are you going for and at what time of year If you have enough time, why not break up the trip with a few days in Tuscany and a few on the Coast or in Sicily. Check out Suzy Kane's website it's great for getting you started.www.yllicitaly.m Thank you, mw2006, for recommending my website.I'm glad you've found it helpful.Have a wonderful honeymoon in Italy
