ITALY Readers's Tips - To reach Burano you need the Linea Nord water bus which sails from Fondamenta Nove.Boats run until late in the evening see www.tv. for timetables. The boats are quite large and I have never seen them completely full. Burano only has one water bus landing stage. The Linea Nord Boat stops first at Murano (one stop then Mazzorbo and then Burano.eware there is virtually no lace made on the island anymore.Lots of shops selling lace imported from the far East.A very little, very expensive Burano hand made lace, is occasionally available at the Lace Museum. The good things about Burano are the pretty painted small houses and a few excellent fish restaurants (plus a good deal of tourist fodder. You can take a 41/42 water bus out to Murano which stops at about 6 landing stages around Murano island.Murano is pedestrianised, as are the other islands, so you have to walk around it or take the 41/42.I usually get off at the Museo landing stage to visit the Glass museum and the church of S.aria e Donato and then walk along the canal side to visit S Pietro martire and have lunch at Busa e Torre in the litle square Campo San Stefano, opposite the church of S.ietro Martire.eware the hard sell in the show rooms of the various glass factories open to the public in Murano. The other island well worth a visit is Torcello, a very short voyage across the channel on a Linea T ferry from Burano. The great church of S.aria Assunta, built AD 638, and still in use has wonderful mosaics of the 9th to 12th centuries. It is perfectly possible to go out to the northern islands on your own.The tours are largely expensive tourist traps even more so are the "free" ferry offers to go to Murano which merely take you to a glass factory to have glass items pushed at you.

Hi Robert, like Julie I will be visiting Venice and want to see the islands with their attractions and am looking for transport and other information.hank you for your posting. If I understand correctly, I can do the following: Take Linea Nord Boat to Murano, then after visiting Murano take another Linea Nord Boat to Burano.hen take Linea T ferry from Burano to Torcello. Robert, what ferry would I take to return from Torcello to the mainland As well, what ferry would take me back to the mainland from Murano or Burano if I do the islands on separate trips Is it advisable or "doable" to visit all three islands in one day Thank you in advance. appreciate your help. Thanks, Robert, great info. And Thanks, Evelyn you asked great followup questions I have another What about Lido What is on it Also, isn't there somewhere on one of the islands that we can go to andamp; listen to the "gregorian" chants (Read that somewhere andamp; now I don't know where. Is it possible a certain day/time Thanks again, Julie

Evelyn To return from Torcello you first have to take the Linea T back to Burano and then catch the Linea N back to Fondamenta Nove in Venice. Return from Burano is only on Linea
