ITALY Readers's Tips - The altitude may affect your clothing choices.y husband and I stayed in Ravello for two weeks the last week in September and the first week in October.I believe May weather would be similar to October weather.n the evening, in Ravello, I needed a sweater but I didn't need long pants or jeans.I wore Capri pants.I think short sleeve shirts or jerseys will be fine during the day. Similarly, in Umbria, in the hilltowns, you might need a sweater at night. I would also bring a windbreaker in case of showers or wind.A windbreaker might also useful when using the boats along the Amalfi Coast or to Capri.nd, if the weather is unseasonably cold, you might need a sweater plus a windbreaker.

It's a good time to go (to Amalfi, but the advice Suzy gives is sound pack a jacket/fleece/sweater for use in the evenings or if you hit a cold day (or as Suzy mentions when you take one of the ferries. light jacket can also have the advantage of being quite 'dressy' if you like to dress smart when going to a nice restaurant, yet flexible enough for the rest of the time. We've been in those weeks before and the last time we were there the weather changed from cool (jacket most days to warm (occasional need at the very end of April perfectly timed for our arrival I'd go for Jeans or Trousers (aka pants sorry I'm English plus maybe something more casual for warmer/active days. If you plan to walk the paths (they are a great way to see the area, then a comfortable pair of walking shoes (walking boots aren't necessary is adviseable.he paths can be steep with many steps, so although sneakers will be ok, you may find walking shoes easier.
