Hi Jensen, I think your plan sounds great. In Tuscany, I recommend the beautiful agriturismo Fonte Bertusi, located in southern Tuscany just outside(3km Pienza fontebertusi. From this base you can visit not only some of the places you listed but also some of the most beautiful small hill towns in Italy.The southern Tuscany area is unbelievably beautiful, especially during that last week of May. Fly into Florence, spend the first night or two there, then train to Chiusi to pick up a car.The Hertz office is directly across the street from the Chiusi train station.From Chiusi it's an easy drive to Montepulciano for lunch, then 30 minutes to Pienza and your stay at Fonte Bertusi.I like the Insight Guides Tuscany guidebook for planning day trips in the area. At the end of your week in Tuscany, start your day early.You can return the car in Chiusi and train to Milan, changing there for the train to Varenna on Lake Como.Either stay in Varenna or take the 15 minute ferry ride to Bellagio and stay there.You should spend you last night in Milan and fly home from there. Let me know if you do decide to stay at Fonte Bertusi.I'll be there that last week of May and perhaps we can share a glass of wine while absorbing the beautiful sunset.
